Listings and directories

Keeping your listings accurate after they go live

Update your business profile, then request a fresh sync so the change travels outward. If a listing our team manages for you is wrong, use Report a problem or Request changes on that listing row and we will resolve it and tell you what we did.

Change a detail once

Listings drift. A phone number changes, you move down the street, your hours shift for the season. The fix is always the same: change it in your business profile first, because that is the copy every sync reads from.

  1. Open your business profile in the dashboard.
  2. Edit the field on the tab it belongs to, primary information for your name, address, phone, and category, business details for hours, tagline, email, and logo.
  3. Save. The profile also saves quietly in the background while you work, so a change is not lost if you get interrupted.
  4. Open Directory listings and choose Request sync so the update is pushed out to your directories.

Report a listing that is wrong

Some listings are managed for you by our team. Those rows carry their own actions, because you should not have to chase a directory yourself.

  1. Open Directory listings.
  2. Find the listing in the managed listings panel.
  3. Choose Report a problem.
  4. Pick the reason and describe what is wrong in your own words. A message is required, because the detail is what lets us fix it without a round of questions.
  5. Submit. The listing is flagged and our team picks it up.

Request changes to a managed listing

Where nothing is broken but something needs updating, use Request changes instead. Select which fields should change, add the details, and submit. The listing is marked as having changes requested until it is resolved, so you can see at a glance which of your listings are waiting on us.

When a request is resolved, the listing returns to its normal status and carries a note explaining what was done. Nothing disappears quietly.

A routine that keeps drift away

A few minutes now and then beats an afternoon of cleanup later. Worth checking:

  • Before a public holiday, when your hours change
  • Whenever you change phone number, address, or website
  • After a rebrand, so the name on every directory matches your signage
  • Whenever the consistency check on your directory listings page flags a mismatch in your name, address, or phone

That consistency is the whole game. Our guide on what NAP consistency is explains why mismatched details quietly cost you visibility, and how to get listed in online directories covers where you should be listed in the first place.

If you are not sure how a sync moves from request to live, read how does listing sync work. To see how your details look to a customer, open your page in the Locible directory. To cover more directories, compare tiers on the pricing page, and if you have not listed your business yet you can add it for free.

Key takeaways

  • Your business profile is the master copy; change it there rather than directory by directory.
  • Report a problem is for something that is wrong; Request changes is for details you want updated.
  • Every request goes to a real person and comes back with a note explaining the outcome.
  • Check your details before a holiday or a move, when they are most likely to go stale.
